Which country would you recommend? And why? Iwant to go backpacking for 1 month. It is my first time, and I want to do it as cheap as possible. I would love to have a nice local experience, and not go to a place full with tourists/travelers.

We travelled through Europe recently and loved it, loved the history.
Now days there isn''t to much problem with only speaking English, especially with Google translate and such.

For something much more exotic I love China. Again, there is so much to see and do. So much diversity from cities to the countryside, mountains, rice fields, rivers etc. It has everything from ancient to modern. Where else can you see something as amazing as the Great Wall? It’s also great value for money.
I could go on really. I don’t think there’s the best country to travel to but I do think there are some that are real favourites of mine.

Firstly you should start off by travelling to places where you can get lots of information on travel there and what to see and do. Places that are generally safe for tourists. Places like: The U.S., Australia, Vietnam, China.
With more experience at travel move onto countries which are not huge tourist "hotspots" as such. I would suggest: Scandinavia, backpacking in Asia and Europe. Start to break away from tourist to traveller at this point.

USA - it will take you a lifetime just to hit the tourist traps
Canada - very expensive to travel within the country, but worth it
Ireland (both the Republic and the North). You can never see too many Castles
Turkey - an amazing country with fantastic people
China - like rediscovering 10,000 years of culture
New Zealand - One of the most progressive countries on the planet
Greece - probably the #1 place to visit, over and over, and over again

Having visited 78 countries and all 50 states (as of 2017), I feel uniquely qualified to answer this question. Here are the top 10 countries I would recommend.
1) Switzerland
2) Montenegro
3) United States (specifically Yellowstone NP, Glacier NP, Crater Lake, Alaska, Hawaii, the California coast, Washington state, the Grand Canyon, New York City, the Dakotas, and Vermont to Maine)
4) Malta
5) United Arab Emirates
6) New Zealand
7) China
8) Seychelles
9) Canada
10) Argentina
These are closely followed by Fiji, the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, and Peru. Quite honestly, although it’s not a country, Antarctica is the most incredible place I’ve ever seen in the world! And Tromso, Norway, is my absolute favorite city. The most disappointing, overrated countries? Italy, Brazil, and India. Interesting, but not nearly as great as you would think.
